A documentary about the night late rapper Tupac Shakur was murdered in Las Vegas in 1996 following a Mike Tyson fight will air on ESPN this fall.
One Night In Vegas will go into detail about the friendship between the heavyweight boxer and the hip-hop lyricist and the events that took place on September 7, 1996. Pac had been ringside at the Tyson vs. Bruce Seldon boxing match and was planning on attending an after-party with Tyson later in the evening to celebrate the boxer’s first round victory but he never made it. He was shot later that night while in his car and died on September 13th.
The film is being directed by Reggie Bythewood, who co-wrote Notorious, and is a part of ESPN’s 30 for 30 series, which will also include documentaries on the late George Steinbrenner, Steve Nash, and Martina Navratilova.
Reflecting on Pac during a recent interview, Tyson said: “He came across as fearless. When you come across somebody that’s fearless, you’re a little bit in awe. You’re like. ‘Whoa!’ He was ready to blow, too, at any moment; very volatile. He’s very focused. He can go from one second to the next and get very focused.”
One Night In Vegas will air on September 7th of this year, the 14th year anniversary of Pac’s shooting.
